Ministry of the Interior urges all citizens on high alert as Atsani brings high winds and heavy rainfall
The latest weather update indicates that the center of Typhoon 20 is located southwest of Erluanbi and moving west northwest toward west southwest. Its storm circle has made landfall in Hengchuan Peninsula, southeastern Taiwan and southern Taiwan, posing a threat to Taitung (including Lanyu and Ludao), Pingtung, Hengchuan Peninsula, Kaohsiung and Tainan. All citizens are advised to prepare for strong winds and rainfall. 
The information of Central Weather Bureau suggests that the warning covers Taitung, Pingtung, Kaohsiung and Tainan. The local governments under warning have established the respective response centers. It is expected to see increased winds and rainfall deep into the night. Commander Hsu Kuo-yung, Minister of the Interior, called for the sixth work report and information assessment meeting at 20:00, instructing local governments to escalate the response level as appropriate while asking all departments of government and functional groups for the following preparations: 
 
1. All citizens are advised to check their shop signs, scaffoldings and advertisement objects and secure them if necessary, while having all necessary preparation in place, such as water pumps, pump stations and flood control materials. 
2. Taitung County and Pingtung County started to see heavy rainfall. Damages appear to be inevitable as winds and rainfall become stronger. Therefore, efforts are required in terms of damage investigation and report. Assistance shall be provided when local government reaches out for help. 
3. The Council of Agriculture announced yellow alerts on 23 potential debris flow torrents in Taitung County and Pingtung County and it is expected to see red alarm at some areas late at night. Therefore, preventive evacuation should be prepared and initiated if necessary. Drivers are advised to stay updated on falling rocks in mountain roads and road closure. 
4. It seems that the scaffolding system collapsed at a jobsite at Luzhu, Taoyuan. Therefore, all citizens are advised to check scaffoldings, shop signs and advertisement objects and secure them tightly if necessary. 
5. The Central Weather Bureau predicts that impacts of the typhoon are the strongest from later tonight (Nov 6) to tomorrow morning (Nov 7). Therefore, everyone should continue to stay tuned on typhoon information and prepare for it as if it were right at your doorstep, as to minimize possible damages. 
Ministry of the Interior would like to exploit this opportunity to advise people to prepare possible response efforts for the incoming typhoon, such as securing shop signs, scaffoldings and advertisement objects, and warn against hiking, river tracing, tide watching, water activities or fishing at no-go areas during the typhoon.
