Mild typhoon Mekkhala is located at 21.7° N and 118.6° E, which is approximately 230 km south southwest of Penghu, as of 20:00 Aug 10, and is traveling at 27 km/h toward 21 km/h north. The atmospheric pressure is 992 hPa at its center. The wind speed is 23 m/sec, or 83 km/h, close to its center, equivalent to level 9 wind. The maximum gust is 30 m/sec or 108 km/h, equivalent to level 11 wind. The radius of storm is 120 km for level 7 wind. The projected location of its center for 20:00, Aug 11 is 26.9° N and 118.1° E, which is roughly 270 km/h north of Kinmen.
The latest weather update indicates that Mekkhala has grown both in strength and storm circle in the previous 3 hours. Its center is located at sea south southwest of Penghu and moving northwards. The storm circle is about to touch down on Penghu, posing a threat to both Penghu and Kinmen. On land, both Penghu and Kinmen are advised to stay on high alert for high winds and strong rainfall. On sea, all vessels sailing on Bashi Strait, surrounding seas of Dongsha Island, Taiwan Strait and waters north of Taiwan are advised to stay alert.

(1) Sea transport:
1. 16 ferries were cancelled for 4 routes on Aug 10 (domestic routes: 1 ferry between Keelung and Matsu, 6 ferries between Donggang and Xiaoliuqiu, 5 ferries between Yenpu and Xiaoliuqiu, and 4 ferries between Large and Small Kinmens)
2. 14 ferries are cancelled for 4 routes on Aug 11 (domestic routes: 1 ferry between Keelung and Matsu, 9 ferries between Donggang and Xiaoliuqiu, 2 ferries between Kaohsiung and Magong and 2 ferries between Houbihu and Lanyu)
(2) Air transport:
1. Domestic flights: 2 flights were delayed and 11 cancelled; Qimei Airport is closed;
2. All international flights are operational.
(3) All freeways and highways are operational.
